Disguise Self is a spell in Baldur's Gate 3 that can change the caster into practically any race. Are you a male dwarf? Well, now you can be a feminine drow with the help of this special spell. As with others, you can acquire this spell by learning it as a spell-caster class or by finding the Scroll of Disguise Self .

Baldur's Gate 3: Who Is The Absolute?
The Absolute is one of the antagonists of Baldur's Gate 3, and here is all you need to know about what exactly they are.
When cast, Disguise Self will last until your next Long Rest. This will allow you to prance around as whoever you want for however long you want.
It is useful to note that if you purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of Baldur's Gate 3, you can acquire the Mask of the Shapeshifter , which grants you Disguise Self regardless of your skillset.
Trick The Dead
Interrogating corpses is a great way to figure out clues for a quest. If you are hunting someone who killed people, you can then resurrect the dead and ask them about their killer.
Sometimes things don't go the way we plan, and the killer is us. If you resurrect someone you have killed, they will recognize you as their killer and refuse to give you any information. Rightfully so, they will be distraught at your presence.
That is where Disguise Self comes into play. You can kill the NPC, disguise yourself as another race, and then interrogate the dead. They will not see through the spell, and you can continue interrogating them as you would anyone else.
Walk Into The Goblin Camp Freely
One of the goblin leaders is a drow, and drows are, in D&D lore, known to harbor goblins and gnomes as slaves. Any goblin will act subservient to you as a drow because of this nature. As a drow, you can enter the goblin camp and have free access to any location.
You will not have to convince the guards to let you in by smearing dung on your face or pass a Persuasion skill check with this method.
This is a great option for when you want to enter the goblin camp on good terms but do not have high skills in the necessary dialogue options that allow you to convince people.
You will want to do this before killing the leaders. If you wreak havoc in the goblin camp, use Disguise Self, and return, you will still be recognized as an enemy to them.

Use Race-Specific Weapons
One of the best uses for Disguise Self is acquiring the ability to wield race-specific weapons and armor to have an upper hand in battle. Some weapons, such as any Githyanki Greatsword, can only receive the given attributes of the item if the wearer is Githyanki themselves.
A Githyanki Greatsword has the attribute Githborn Psionic Weapon. This attribute allows Githyanki wielders to deal an additional 1d4 Psychic damage.
By disguising yourself as a Githyanki, you will be able to reap the benefits of using this sword. Otherwise, it will deal less damage and not be as beneficial as the weapon you already have.
There are other race-specific items, and you won't always have every race and class in your party to utilize these tricks. Disguise Self is a great way to win a tough battle if your bard isn't cutting it.
Use Race-Specific Dialogue
A lot of areas in the game are populated by a specific race or group of people. For instance, the Druid Grove in Act 1 contains druid elves and tieflings. If you are neither, it will be harder to convince either side and change the tides of a situation.
If you are of the same race, background, or class as another NPC, you can often access special dialogue options that allow you to connect to that NPC. By connecting, you will be able to convince them to do what you want or to gain their approval.
Because the spell lasts until your next Long Rest, it is useful to use it for these big areas so that you can connect to all the related NPCs in the area. You will be able to access areas others cannot and receive new information.
Access Smaller Areas
Near the end of Act 1 and onward, you will start to find strange holes that are way too small for any regular person to fit inside. These holes or caverns are usually found by passing a Perception check.
For example, in the Underdark at the Arcane Tower, you can find a small pipe on the back side of the building when trying to find a way to access the basement generator.
The smallest races you can change into would be a gnome or halfling, but even these characters are not small enough.
The key to utilizing Disguise Self here is to combine it with the Enlarge/Reduce spell.
The Enlarge/Reduce spell can be acquired by the sorcerer class, the wizard class, or the duergar dwarven subrace.
Use Disguise Self to turn into a gnome, and then use Enlarge/Reduce on your character. This will allow you to enter any tiny space you find. Another option would be to use the Wild Shape spell to turn into a mouse, but if you do not have a druid on your team, the above is another useful way to access areas.
