As a teenage in the 90’s Doc Martens were the height of cool for me for years. In high school I was super jealous of all the cool grunge girls who stomped around in the black oxford version, but I had to make do with a cheap plastic imitation pair from Payless. In college I finally splurged on a brown pair that I proudly wore to every single party for all my four and a half years of college.

Since the 90’s ended my brown pair have sat in the back on a number of different closets gathering dust, but I patiently was waiting until the Doc would make a comeback. And time is now! (Well I think it actually started a few years ago, but I am a little late with trends!)

Docs look totally updated for today when worn with tucked in skinny jeans, instead of the long flares I used to wear them with that basically covered up the whole shoe. Pairing with cropped jacket and/or a flowy girly top also helps to de-combat boot-ify them look so no one mistakes you for an extra on My So Called Life. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

So I’ve been recently been trying to buy more classic shoes that will last forever. My goal was to have a go to pair of black boots, black heels and black flats that I could wear with any type of pants. Black flats are tricky though since they can easily be boring. I wanted a mix of classic with a twist. I had been looking at these cute Marc Jacobs flats which were on sale at DSW for $99 but of course were out of my size.

But then I found the Frye Emma Honeycomb Stud and I knew my search was over. Classic sturdy black ballet flats + punky studs and peep toe = perfect! I haven’t been able to wear them too much since I’ve been living in my shearing lined winter boots for months, but I can’t wait to pair these with skinny jeans and denim skirts for the spring.

1. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturiser with SPF15

The first week I started using this I got carded FIVE TIMES! It is nice and lightweight and gives my skin a nice smooth dewy finish. It is great for the winter when my skin starts to dry out. Did I mention carded five times???

2. MAC Fix+

I first read about this on Lollipop26’s blog and I thought it would be a great product for winter. Extra moisture, dewy sheen, and it helps fix my make up on my face where it belongs. I can’t say I’ve mastered it yet. There is a fine line between dewy and greasy looking and sometimes I think this product puts me over the edge. But I’m determined to figure out what works for me.

3. Bobbie Brown Corrector & Creamy Concealer Kit

I’m on a quest to banish my under eye bags and dark circles. So far the combo of the pink corrector and the yellow concealer plus the powder to set seems to be doing the trick. This make up even passed the biggest test the first day I wore it…catching my reflection in the subway window.

I love pretty much anything with studs. If I could wear a wardrobe covered in studs from head to toe I probably would. So of course I did a double take for this Anthro studded leather bag. Of course I would prefer it in black with silver studs, but now I’m just being picky.

At $528 it is way out of my budget, so I think I’ll drag my studded Kooba bag out of the closet for a week or so and hope it helps me forget about the Streetslight bag.

Nobody does sexy/casual like Giselle Bunchen. Plus she gets to have Tom Brady’s baby…some girls have all the luck! Giselle may be know for the runway but I like the shots of her everyday casual wear.  Cute top + killer pair of jeans + fab leather bag + boots (or chucks!) = perfect weekend style

A few weeks ago I stopped by the Rockefeller Center Anthro to check out the sale section and found the beautiful Puckered Canvas Bag and it is the best summer bag I’ve found yet. Perfect size and it looks good with all my summer outfits. I’m not to fond of the name thought, so from now on I will be calling it my “Last Days of Summer Bag”.

My takeaway for this line is that it is super fun & fierce and SUPER impractical, which I assume is exactly what Christian set out to do.   I already have a closet full of insane high heels that are beautiful but I never wear since I can’t walk more than one block in them, so why add to the pile?

Lots of shoes at the 34th Street & Broadway store. The will be showing up on Sept 8th for all the non-Manhattan folk.

Beautiful attention to detail, especially for a Payless shoes. But where would I wear it?

I also checked out some of the other designer shoes and I am one again linking to Fashion Herald’s review. My verdict? I am waiting for the Dauphin to show up. Now there is an impractical shoe I would take a chance on!

1.  Frye Allie Softy Pump DONE! (I had to return a pair of boots to Frye and their excellent customer service employee had me pick out a new pair. It has been too hot to wear them outside so far, but I have been wearing them when I walk around the office.)

2. 15″ Aviator Leather Shearling Clog Boot from No. 6 Although these boots are insanely expensive I think I would get my money’s worth seeing as I need a warm pair of boots about 6 months out of the year. Plus I’ve been looking for a replacement for my Ugg Brooks tall boots that I have been wearing evey winter for about four years now. Plus they love them over at Lucky Magazine. Plus Michelle Williams looks super cute in them.

3. Teardrop T-Straps I might be rethinking since I read the reviews but these are beautiful shoes.

4. Uniqlo Peacoat $40! Can’t beat that. I’m also going to be keeping an eye on Uniqlo for a new puffy down coat.

5.  Silence & Noise Tie Dye Cocoon Cardigan This is so Nancy Botwin and I love it. I love it so much I may just buy at full price instead of stalking it for months waiting for it to go on sale.

6. Splendid Blazer Tee Comfy but still office appropriate. Perfection!

7. Saturday/Sunday Flight Simulation Jacket Love the collar and fitted waist band.
