Spring Shopping & a ShopBop sale

Although it was snowing here in Brooklyn while I typed out this post I am starting to think about adding in some early spring touches to my wardrobe, and putting away my winter boots. Even better – I am just in time for the ShopBop Spring Sale. Here’s what I am looking at to bring a little fresh spring into my life as we ride out the rest of winter.

Herschel Supply Co. Alexander XL Tote
: Love the nylon and the patterned interior. The shiny rip stop nylon fabric makes it look modern and sleek.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Preppy Nylon Jerrie Rose Lil Tate: The sunny warm pop of yellow is a good reminder that spring is right around the corner.

Blank Denim Vegan Leather & Ponte Jacket: The slouchy, drapey front contrasts nicely with the luxurious animal friendly vegan leather.

Madewell Bucket Bag: Just enough 70s cool for NYC streets today.

Birkenstock Gizeh Thong Sandals: I almost bought white Arizona birks last summer for my wedding, but ended up passing since I thought they were too trendy. Now it seems that they are here to stay, and I won’t be passing on them again. I have a pair of black patent leather Gizeh that I love, and think now it is time to add a white pair to the mix.

LeSportsac Medium Tote Bag: Casual and comfortable. The perfect weekend bag.

Inspiration: Madonna in 1980’s Lower East Side

Like most girls who grew up in the 1980’s I spent a good amount of time trying to dress, look like, and basically “be” Madonna of the 1980’s. I saw this photo posted recently in one of my favorite Facebook groups Manhattan before 1990 and noticed right away how even from way back when Madonna still looks fresh and modern, and could easily wear this same outfit any time and any place in Manhattan today.

Here is my twist on how I would style this outfit today. A little more simple, a little more sleek, but with all the same details intact.
