Check out the Reisenthel bags at Conran shop (under 59th st bridge/1st ave) $19 in many colors, converts from a small laptop-size bag when folded into a groovy rolling cart that REALLY works and is REALLY easy to open & close. They're out of Berlin. Their designs are unusual, sleek and almost architectural. Amazing quality. I own 6 of them in different colors. You can see a collection at the Dahesh Museum on Madison at 57th, or a few images on their site www.cover-b.de. Priced around $300 perbad, they're not cheap but definitely worth the money. Look for "Loveday31". The owner used to be a buyer for Screaming Mimi's, a well known vintage shop in NOHO.
