Too many totes

The Daily News asks: Why does every B-list celeb design a line of handbags?

I tried looking online to look for bags by the B-list with a little success. I guess being famous doesn’t make you very web savvy. Monica Lewinsky’s site just posts a come back soon message and I didn’t even both trying to put Pamela Anderson’s name in a google search. Though I was happily suprised to see that Alek Wek’s WEK 1933 line is actually very nice and I’ve seen some creative bags in Gwen Stephani’s LeSportsac collection.

I couldn’t find much for Nicky Hilton except for this fan site. Probably a good thing you can’t really see too much of the bags since they look real tacky.

I personally find Nicky Hilton’s line of bags a bit tacky. They are very LA style. So, really depends on your own taste.

The Hilton bags are gross. The only celeb I ever see carrying one (besides Nicki and Paris) is Lindsay Lohan. That should tell you all you need to know. I don’t like the LAMB bags either, they’re so obvious. I guess they are okay if you’re a teenager.

Gee, the article made handbag design sound like a bag thing! The fact that these celebs don’t need to get any education in design and just use their name to get their own handbag line leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not surprised to read that they don’t spend much time actually designing because there’s other people who can do the work for them. If I were a celeb wanting to design my own line of bags and have the opportunity to do it, I’d dedicate myself to every aspect of the process just so I could be proud to say it’s my line. Oh well.

I’m not running out to get their bags anyways. they’re not all that much to be excited about.
